Wai Tan Chi-kung (Wai Dan Qi Gong)

The main purpose of Wai tan kung training is to foster ''xian tian qi'' innate vigor (Pre-Birth QI or Pre-Heaven Qi), so as to increasing life giving Qi circulation by stimulating one area of the body until a large energy potential builds up and flows through the Qi channel system in one's body and also by employing the method of trembling to further consolidate the coordination of the nervous system in the body, to strengthen our vital organs, to promote life's function, to promote the alertness of the mind, normalize the function of the heart and lungs, promote blood circulation exercise the vital organs and loosening our muscles and joints. It is indeed a complete form of exercise for promoting good health, Strength and Longevity.

There are two kinds of Wai tan kung, moving and still. Wai Tan Kung is a type of 'standing meditation exercise' (li chan), which is one of the four main forms of Chinese meditation exercise (chan gong). These 4 meditation exercises are: sit (zuo), lie (wo) walk (xing) and stand (li). After practicing Wai tan kung for a number of years and having attained a certain level of achievement one can then practice any form of these meditation exercises anytime and at anywhere. Wai tan kung's emphasis is on living. It encourages practitioners to cultivate an active outlook; it helps to reduce pressure from work, build a healthy body and mind and also harness the power of the triad elements i.e. heaven (tian), earth (di) and human (ren) to foster ''xian tian qi'' to enhance living by normalizing heart beat and calming nerves. These are achieved through practicing the various motions of Wai tan kung. By practicing Wai tan kung exercises regularly, it would help to loosen up tendons muscles skin and pores as well as to strengthen bones.

Moreover, It is considered a benevolent act to promote the practice of Wai tan kung to the public at large, which includes 12 motions 8 Han Induction Exercises massaging and its concluding exercises.

There is no age limit for practicing Wai tan kung. It is suitable for people in their early twenties right up to the elderly. It can be practiced at anytime, anywhere and with any number of people. Wai tan kung is most suitable as a family activity; During family gathering, members can get together during holidays to practice this exercise not only for members of the family to attain good health but also to foster closer family ties.

Wai tan kung exercise also stresses on the cultivating of one's good behavior and living habits. It not only promotes good health but also helps to normalize many dysfunctions. It is also suitable for those in convalescence and recovery from illness. There are many true instances of good recovery after practicing Wai tan kung. However, one must be patient in practicing Wai tan kung continuously in order to achieve some of its desired results.

Qi (Chi)
The general definition of Qi is: universal energy, including heat, light and electromagnetic energy. A narrower definition of Qi refers to the energy circulating in human or animals bodies. A current popular model is that the Qi circulating in the human body is in nature.
