The Wing Tzun Training

The Wing Tzun Training

Training - structure:

The Wing Tzun- Student Training- Program is divided into twelve student levels.
The subjects of focus for each level can be summarized as follows:

1st to 4th student-level:

''Forms":  To the student ''Forms" Constitutes training in a new repertory of movements. the student will gain a greater appreciation
of his/her own physical potential and gain more confidence in him/herself.

" Specific self-defense situations'': Here the Wing Tzun-student learns to
defend him/herself against the most common sorts of attack ( punches, kicks, holds, strangle holds )

5th to 8th student-level:

" Chi Sao " ( sticky hands ): On this level great emphasis is put on the training of reflexes. With this training we develop a new repertoire of experiences with movement and touch.

"Specific Self-Defense Situations':' This encompasses fighting with and against elbows and knees, fighting within all five distances and getting to learn about and defending against all kind of attacks through the use of reflexes.

9th to 12th student-level:

Increasing emphasis on reflex-self defense.

Refining and perfecting movements-execution.

In specific situations

-against multiple attackers
-against armed attackers
-gentle methods

Wing Tzun Training

Training in Wing Tzun proceeds in a logical step by step way. The first form "Siu-Nim-Tau," gives all the fundamentals for the art. The second form "Chum-Kiu," teaches how to bridge the gap between you and your opponent. The third form "Biu-Tze," teaches penetration and recovery techniques. The wooden dummy or wooden man teaches how to proceed the instant contact is made. Sticking hands or "Chi sao," training teaches what to do if contact remains or comes apart.

People often ask, "Does Wing Tzun have this or that movement?" Wing Tzun practitioners are not artificially restricted to only use certain movements. The achievement of an effective result is what matters most. Wing Tzun uses punches, palms, pokes, chops, kicks, elbows, shoulder attacks, head butts, knees and hips. Sweeping, and other forms of off-balancing are also a part of the art. Short range non-telegraphed hits provide the arsenal of Wing Tzun. Wing Tzun is characterized by short explosive hand attacks, low
kicks and simultaneous attack and defense.

What is not apparent from this description is the ease with which it is possible to apply control techniques rather than hurting and hitting techniques. Sticking, trapping, smothering, deflecting and evading are all products of Chi sao practice.
